Gold Price Calculator — 24K, 22K, 18K & 14K Gold Rate

This gold price calculator converts today's 24K gold rate into the value of your gold at any common jewellery purity — 24K, 22K, 18K or 14K — for any weight in grams. Gold rates move daily, so start by entering the current 24K price (a starting default is provided, but check the live rate before relying on this for a real transaction), pick the purity, and enter the weight to get the effective price per gram and total value instantly.

₹14,300

Today's 24-karat (99.9% pure) gold rate per gram — check the current rate before relying on this, since gold prices change daily.

22K is standard for most Indian gold jewellery; 24K is investment-grade/coins; 18K and 14K are common in lighter, more durable Western-style jewellery.

How to use this gold price calculator

  1. 124K gold price (₹/gram): today's 24-karat rate — this is the benchmark purity all other karats are scaled down from. Update it to match the current published rate before using this for anything real.
  2. 2Purity: choose 24K for investment-grade gold or coins, 22K for most Indian gold jewellery, or 18K/14K for lighter Western-style jewellery — each carries a different fraction of pure gold by weight.
  3. 3Weight (grams): the weight of the gold item or quantity you're valuing.

Understanding your results

Total gold value is the pure metal value of your gold at the purity and weight you entered — it does not include making charges, wastage or GST, which a jeweller would add on top (use the Gold Jewellery Price Calculator for that full breakup). Price per gram at this purity is the 24K rate scaled down by the purity multiplier, which is the actual rate a buyer or seller would apply to gold of that karat.

The formula

Price per gram (at purity) = 24K price × purity multiplier; Total value = Price per gram × Weight

Each karat below 24 contains proportionally less pure gold by weight — 22K is 91.6% pure (22/24), 18K is 75% pure (18/24) and 14K is 58.3% pure (14/24). Multiplying the 24K price by that fraction gives the fair market rate for gold at that purity, which is the standard method Indian jewellers and gold dealers use to price mixed-purity gold off a single quoted 24K rate. The total value is then just that per-gram rate multiplied by the weight.

A worked example

At a 24K gold price of ₹14,300/gram, 22K gold (0.916 purity) works out to an effective price of ₹14,300 × 0.916 = ₹13,098.80/gram. For a 10-gram item, total value = ₹13,098.80 × 10 = ₹1,30,988.

Things to know

Gold prices in India change daily — sometimes more than once a day — based on international gold rates, the rupee-dollar exchange rate and import duty, so treat the default 24K price here as a starting point, not a live quote; check a current rate before using this for a real purchase, sale or valuation. This calculator gives the pure metal value only — it does not include making charges, wastage or GST that a jeweller would add for a finished piece of jewellery.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the price so different between 24K and 22K gold?+

24K gold is 99.9% pure, while 22K is only 91.6% pure — the remaining ~8.4% is other metals (usually copper, silver or zinc) alloyed in for durability. Since you're paying for the gold content, 22K is worth proportionally less per gram than 24K, even though it looks and often functions the same for jewellery purposes.

Does this include making charges or GST?+

No — this calculator shows only the pure gold value at your chosen purity and weight. Real jewellery purchases also include wastage, making charges and GST on top of the gold value; use the Gold Jewellery Price Calculator to see the full amount payable for a finished piece.

How often do gold prices actually change in India?+

Gold rates are typically revised daily by bullion associations and jewellers, tracking international gold prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate — they can even move within the same day during volatile periods. Always check a current rate rather than relying on a rate from even a few days ago.
