Employee PF is usually a fixed 12% of basic pay deducted before you receive your salary, but 'basic pay' varies by company structure and isn't something this calculator can infer from a single gross-salary number — so it's left out, and your real bank credit will be lower than the figure shown here by your PF contribution.

It depends on your income and, in reality, on how many exemptions you'd actually claim under the old regime. This calculator shows the old regime's tax without any 80C/HRA/LTA exemptions applied, so for most salaried filers who do claim those, the real old-regime in-hand figure would be higher than shown.

A rebate that brings your tax bill to zero if your taxable income (after the standard deduction) is at or below ₹12,00,000 under the new regime, or ₹5,00,000 under the old regime. Above those thresholds, tax is calculated normally from ₹0 using the regime's slabs — there's no partial rebate.
