Enter the gold price per gram, the item's weight, your jeweller's wastage and making charges percentages, and whether the bill is composite or itemized, to see the full price breakup and final amount.
Today's gold rate for your jewellery's purity — for 22K jewellery this is roughly 91.6% of the 24K rate. Use the Gold Price Calculator first if you're unsure.
The weight of gold in the jewellery item, in grams.
Gold lost during manufacturing, charged as a percentage of gold value — commonly 2–8%, varies by jeweller and design complexity.
The jeweller's labour/craftsmanship charge, typically 8–25% of gold value depending on design intricacy and whether it's machine-made or handcrafted.
Most retail jewellers use a composite bill — check your actual invoice format if you're unsure which applies.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a composite and itemized GST bill?+
A composite bill applies one 3% GST rate to the entire subtotal — gold value, wastage and making charges combined — which is how most retail jewellers in India bill. An itemized bill instead separately taxes making charges at 5% (as a service) while gold and wastage are taxed at 3%, which usually results in a slightly higher total for the same purchase. Check your actual invoice to see which style your jeweller uses.
Why do I have to pay wastage and making charges on top of the gold value?+
Wastage covers gold physically lost during cutting, shaping and polishing, and making charges cover the jeweller's labour and craftsmanship. Both are conventionally charged as a percentage of the gold value in India, though some jewellers instead charge a flat per-gram making fee — always ask which method your jeweller uses, since it changes how much a heavier or more elaborate design costs.
How do I know my jewellery is actually the purity claimed?+
Look for BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) hallmarking on the piece — a genuine hallmark includes the BIS logo, a purity/fineness grade (like 916 for 22K), the hallmarking centre's mark, and a unique HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) number that can be verified on the BIS CARE app or website. Hallmarking is mandatory for gold jewellery sold in India above a certain value threshold, and checking it is the most reliable way to confirm the purity a jeweller is charging you for.
